So I don't have much blooming in the garden right now, but there are a few things. Many of which are kind of surprising. These first pics are of Salvia chamaedryoides. It started blooming a second time in late October after a full bloom all summer and is in full bloom right now.
The tibouchina and St. John's wort are blooming as well.
Dwarf lemon blossoms. Not so surprising for this time of year.
This Salvia buchananii (I believe) is also on its second bloom for the year. And this trailing rosemary has been blooming for quite a while.

This is a surprise. The camelia didn't bloom till January the last two years, but our 4 inch rainstorm followed by 60 degree weather convinced it to bloom early. The first round is already done (not so pretty now), though there are some buds ready to pop.
Thanks as always to Carol over at May Dreams Garden for hosting Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day.
That seems like a fair bit. More good stuff than I have. The tibo and the st. john's wort look cool side by side.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine how beautiful your gardens look when you have something blooming!!
ReplyDeleteHappy bloom day! Funny how many California bloggers are participating in bloom day this month -- well, for that, August and September were pretty miserable...
ReplyDeleteLove those blues!
ReplyDeleteLove those blues too, that Salvia chamaedryoides is my new favorite, it's really been a workhorse in my yard this year.
ReplyDeleteLove that blue salvia! Do you have to water it during the summer? I also have that pink fuzzy salvia, and I'm not sure what it's name is either--lol! Tibouchina and lemons--what would we do without them.
ReplyDelete@ Susie and Chuck: I also really like the S. chamaedryoides (or blue salvia). I didn't water them this summer and I just planted them about a year ago. There was some die back in the middle, so I probably should have watered it a bit, but I was kind of on a tough love regimen with that side of the yard since it's not irrigated and won't be.
ReplyDelete@ Townmouse: I haven't done Bloom Day for a while because of that, but figured now is the time to show off a bit. I'm hoping my ceanothus and manzanita bloom for January.
Do I see lemons in the background?! Oooh, so much envy from chilly Vancouver. Love all the colour you have in the garden. I do miss it.
ReplyDeleteI'm drooling over your lovely lemons, and those blossoms are so wonderful to see from over here in the middle of winter :)
ReplyDeleteYour Salvia chamaedryoides looks really happy with all its flowers. Mine is only a year in the ground and doesn't seem to appreciate all the water deprivation I put it through. But I'm hoping it'll perk up with these rains.
ReplyDeleteIsn't the blue in the Salvia just an amazing colour. I'm sure you have a lovely scent from those lemon flowers
